Latex balloons: an alternative, low-cost model for vascular anastomosis training in medical education

Accuracy of the NSQIP Universal Risk Calculator Using a Vascular Surgery Cohort in a Community Teaching Hospital
The National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) universal risk calculator tool was designed using 1.4 million cases and>1500 unique Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes to estimate perioperative risk across multiple surgical subspecialties to guide informed consent. We aimed to test whether perioperative risk was accurately estimated for a vascular surgery cohort in a community teaching hospital setting.

Lymphatic compensation during the postoperative period after breast cancer treatment with axillary dissection
The objective of this literature review was to study lymphatic compensation after surgery for breast cancer and the factors that influence this process, with a view to understanding the etiopathogenesis of lymphedema. Articles indexed on Pubmed published from 1985 to 2012 were reviewed. According to the literature, lymphangiogenesis reduces damage to lymph vessels; there is little evidence that Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor is elevated in women with lymphedema; lymphovenous communications can be observed 60 days after surgery; women without lymphedema have acquired alternative mechanisms for removal of proteins from t...

Knowledge atlas analysis of virtual vascular interventional studies
CONCLUSION: Considerable growth was observed in vascular intervention therapy using VR technology in the last 20 years. With consistent efforts like strengthening cross-institutional and multidisciplinary collaboration networks, VR based simulation training capability can be increased that in turn can improve the outcomes of complex vascular interventions.PMID:36927163 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231162157
